During his meeting with the President, Professor Khalid Al-Begain, Dean of Engineering, Professor Ali Chamkha and General Manager, COSTHE, Mr Abdullah Almulla on May 27,2021. His Excellency talked in-depth about the importance of national and international cooperation in engineering and collaboration with Belgium universities.
Professor Khalid Al-Begain, accompanied by Professor Ali Chamkha, Dean of Engineering, and Mr Ibrahim Al Mutawa, visited the Kuwait Military Armed Forces site. The visit was part of the ongoing collaboration between the Ministry of Defence Education Department and KCST. KCST accepts candidates from the military to complete their studies at KCST.
To crown the intensive research and development activities and the international collaboration in the cybersecurity field, a new state-of-the-art cybersecurity facility was opened at KCST. The facility will enhance the position of KCST as the leading academic institution in Kuwait in offering specialised academic courses and training programs to increase the awareness and professionalism of cybersecurity in Kuwait and the region.

The rate of productivity of research at KCST per full-time faculty member exceeds most if not all colleges and universities in Kuwait.The Dean of Engineering, Prof. Ali Chamkha, is leading the way with his team of dedicated and well-qualified faculty at KCST. From the time KCST started operations in 2016, our faculty has published 301 articles in Scopus indexed journals and produced 31 research projects funded by KFAS.
The hybrid system of wind, photovoltaic generator and battery is a Final year Project (FYP2) Pilot Project by three Electronics and Communications Engineering students, Ms Fatimah AlRashid, Ms Noura S Alsulaiman and Ms Fajer DH AlShammari. The project is supervised by Prof Ioannis (John) Avaritsiotis.This project features a hybrid system consisting of a 500W peak wind generator and a photovoltaic 300W peak generator charging 200 Ah battery
The Colloquium focused on the advantages and disadvantages of using learners' first language (L1) while teaching courses in English (L2). In addition, it shed light on the functions of using L1 in L2 contexts, the amount of L1 used by learners, and the attitudes towards L1 use by lecturers, students and stakeholders.

The Student Life & Alumni Unit, in collaboration with KCST's 'Arts Club', held a special tribute to mothers on the occasion of Mother's Day. All KCST mothers had a special breakfast delivered to them with a small gift basket of simple surprises, alongside a card and flower. Our female community, especially mothers who work or study alongside raising their children, is highly valued and always appreciated.
The Student Life & Alumni Unit, in collaboration with the SSC and KCST clubs, expressed their solidarity for the people of Palestine by sharing a hashtag and post to be used by all KCST members on Zoom (online learning) & social media. In addition, videos were collected from students and academics to support people in Palestine and deliver people's voice. The Arts club used their skills to express their stance on Palestinians through drawings, writings, poems, and calligraphy.
In collaboration with 'YES Club', the Student Life & Alumni Unit hosted the young disabled writer Zainab Al Khaldi, whose story has been published in her first book (Mohakati), to recount her coming to age journey and struggles with her disability. KCST hosted the young author in an open discussion where she shared her story, the idea of her book and what she is looking forward to after performing her upcoming prosthetics surgery in the United States.
Mr Faisal Bozoubar, the CEO of Talent Script Agency, introduced his agency's services and its distinction in using Artificial Intelligence to provide the perfect match between job market needs & applicants' abilities & knowledge. The unique agency has helped our students to find a variety of jobs based not only on their skills, but also on their personalities and preferences.
KCST’s Marketing department conducted the graduate photoshoot following all Covid 19 protocol and precautions. This session was conducted to congratulate and motivate the graduating classes of 2019, 2020 and 2021.
The Athletics club, led by Coach Mohammed Al Sanousi, held a basketball event and other tournaments to raise awareness about the Palestinian conflict and show our support and solidarity.
On Women’s Day, the YES Club hosted one of the most socially- active & Female Empowerment Leader - Eng. Ashwaq Al Mudhaf who spoke to our students and gave her insight on perseverance and persistence to succeed. In her talk, she emphasized the need for females to cooperate and empower one another whenever possible.

During the Holly month of Ramadan, the Student Life & Alumni collaborated with many clubs to bring students one-of-a-kind virtual activities pertaining to wellbeing & entertainment. These activities included several Ramadan-themed talks by coach Mohammed Al Sanousi & Dr. Ali Yousif, as well as issues of health and wellness by coach Mohammed. KCST also celebrated Gergean in a unique virtual contest where students competed for prizes, as well as Gergean giveaways. The Ramadan series proved to be a KCST favourite as it was met with much participation and enthusiasm. Even when we are apart, we are always looking for ways to engage our students and make the best of any given situation. May God grant us this opportunity every year. In collaboration with the SSC, the Student Life & Alumni unit initiated a donation drive for our security and cleaning staff colleagues to distribute Ramadan goodies boxes as well as a cash 'Eidiya'. The KCST community supported the initiative and gathered a significant amount of donations in various forms. Also, due to coach Mohammed Al Sanousi's efforts, over 400 Iftar meals were distributed over the span of the Holly Month to our community members. We are extremely proud of our community for the enthusiasm and for our management for the never-ending support in matters of community service and giving.
