ABOUT

It is the first Cyber Security Centre in Kuwait and was founded in Kuwait College of Science and Technology (KCST). It was established to alleviate cyber security standards and capabilities, of the country and the surrounding region. Cyber Security Centre aspires to be the world-class Cyber Security Centre in education, research and innovation in the Middle East.

The cyber security importance has prevailed during the pandemic, partly owing to the fact that numerous services in Kuwait and the entire region have shifted from physical to online services. A vast majority of ministries and companies rapidly developed then released web and mobile applications, to retain services for the nation. As a result, those applications were not competent to the international cyber security standards and strategies.

Kuwait’s’ Cyber Security Centre grants the region higher cyber security standards by providing certifications, teaching, training, research, and solutions, by trained cyber security professionals. Furthermore, it shapes the biggest Kuwaiti community of ethical hackers.

BACKGROUND

Kuwait’s first complete Cyber Security Centre created and setup at KCST. After Dr. Basil Al-Othman’s proposal to initiate an approach towards building a cyber security centre and starting special training programs and certifications in cyber security, Prof. Khalid Al-Begain approved and the college proceeded immediately in establishing this centre. A complete conversion of a storage room to professional international standard Cyber Security Centre was done within 7 days without exceeding a budget of 5,000 KWD. Although there is still a lot to do in configuration, the base is ready.
