KCST's Commitment to Decent Work and Economic Growth
Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 8, "Decent Work and Economic Growth," focuses on promoting inclusive economic growth, full and productive employment, and decent work for all. In Kuwait, SDG 8 is supported by a robust labor law that protects workers' rights and fosters economic growth. KCST complements these efforts by ensuring staff and employee equality, offering competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits, providing secure employment contracts for over 95% of our workforce, maintaining transparent grievance mechanisms, and creating an inclusive workplace that values diversity and professional growth. Through our educational mission, we contribute to Kuwait's economic transformation by preparing more 2,000 graduate students for careers in engineering, technology, and innovation—directly supporting Kuwait Vision 2035's goals of economic diversification and skilled workforce development.

KCST’s Commitment to Adherence of Kuwait’s Labor Rights and Support
Kuwait has a comprehensive labor law (Labor Law No. 6 of 2010) that safeguards workers' rights. This law covers various aspects, including working hours, wages, leave, and occupational safety.

Minimum Wage: Kuwait has implemented a minimum wage system to ensure that workers receive fair compensation for their labor, with particular attention to ensuring all workers earn above the poverty line threshold.

Equal Pay: The labor law promotes equal pay for equal work, irrespective of gender or nationality.

Occupational Health and Safety: Kuwait enforces strict regulations to protect workers' health and safety in the workplace, requiring employers to provide safe working environments.

KCST’s Commitment to Employees Work-Life Balance
The university promotes work-life balance by offering generous leave entitlements and employee support services. Faculty members receive 60 days of annual leave per academic year, while administrative staff receive 30 days annually. Additional leave provisions include sick leave (up to 30 days), maternity leave (70 days full pay), Hajj pilgrimage leave (21 days once during employment), compassionate leave (5 days for family bereavement), and conference/research leave supporting professional development. KCST maintains comprehensive anti-discrimination policies embedded in multiple institutional frameworks that prohibit workplace discrimination across protected characteristics including gender, age, religion, and other grounds. The university’s Code of Conduct establishes non-discrimination and equal opportunity principles binding all employees. The Code prohibits harassment, bullying, discrimination, and retaliation, requiring respectful treatment regardless of personal characteristics. It mandates reporting obligations for violations and protects whistleblowers from victimization.

KCST’s Commitment to Employee Representation and Grievance Mechanisms
KCST encourages open communication and has mechanisms in place for staff and employees to voice concerns and provide feedback. Our comprehensive Employee Grievances and Complaint Policy ensures all staff members have accessible channels to raise workplace concerns without fear of retaliation. The policy provides for informal resolution (discussion with supervisor within 5 days), formal complaint submission (to grievance@kcst.edu.kw), independent investigation by HR with senior management panel (completed within 5 working days), and Presidential review with final decision (within 3 working days), ensuring maximum 8-working-day resolution timeline. KCST strictly prohibits victimization of employees who file grievances, with disciplinary action taken against any person who retaliates against complainants.
