Ali J. Chamkha is a Distinguished Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Dean of Engineering at Kuwait College of Science and Technology. He was formerly the Dean of Graduate Studies and Research, Director of the University Research Center, Prince Sultan Endowed Chair for Energy and Environment, Former Chairman of the Mechanical Engineering Department and Member of the Rector’s Advisory Council at Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University, Al-Khobar, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Professor Chamkha has earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Tennessee Technological University, USA, in 1989. His research interests include multiphase fluid-particle dynamics, nanofluids dynamics, fluid flow in porous media, heat and mass transfer, magnetohydrodynamics and fluid-particle separation. He has been invited as a Distinguished Keynote Speaker for many international conferences held in different countries such as USA, Malaysia, Turkey, India, Iraq, Iran, Lebanon. He has served as an Editor, Associate Editor, or a member of the editorial board for many journals such as ASME Journal of Thermal Science and Engineering Applications, ASME Journal of Nuclear Engineering and Radiation Science, International Journal of Numerical Method for Heat and Fluid Flow, Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry, Thermal Science journal, Scientia Iranica, Special Topics & Reviews in Porous Media, Journal of Porous Media, Journal of Thermal Engineering, Journal of Nanofluids, Recent Patents on Mechanical Engineering, Journal of Applied Fluid Mechanics, International Journal of Fluids and Thermal Sciences, Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer Research, International Journal for Microscale and Nanoscale Thermal and Fluid Transport Phenomena, International Journal of Industrial Mathematics and many others. In addition, he has served as a reviewer for over seventy five international scientific journals and has authored and co-authored over 800 publications in archival international journals and conferences. Prof. Chamkha has recently been ranked among the top 2% scientists in the world with a global rank of #21 out of 92,645 and #1 rank at the Arabic world level in the Mechacical Engineering and Transport category by a recent published ranking study done by Stanford university. In addition, he has won several teaching and research awards throughout his academic career; among them are the Young Arab Researcher Award in Engineering Sciences by Abdul-Hamid Shoman Foundation in 1999, Senior Scientist Award by the American Filtration and Separation Society, 2007, Khalifa Award for Distinguished University Professor in Scientific Research at the Arab World Level in 2011, and the Khwarizmi International Award in Engineering in 2012, Outstanding Teaching Award at Kuwait University in 1996, 1997 and 2001.
