Summary: - In this project, we focus on the improvement of perovsite solar cell through the addition of different plasmonic nanostructures. The perovskite solar cells may have some lower optical absorption in the visible spectrum around the red region. Therefore, our contribution is to prove by simulations the concept that the overall efficiency can be enhanced through adding metallic nanostructure whose plasmonic resonance wavelength is close to the spectrum range of lower absorption of the perovskite. Therefore, this coupling can enhance the quantum efficiency in this spectrum region. In this work, both gold and silver nanoparticles are selected to be added as an additional layer of perovskite solar cell. Simulated optical properties and quantum efficiency calculations would be presented along with a comparison of the impact of both gold and silver additives. That can be a strong base for the next step of trying such plasmonics experimentally within perovskite solar cells in a further proposal. This project meets perfectly with the up-to-date requirements of the research interests of Kuwait Foundation for Advancement of Science (KFAS), and State of Kuwait in general, related to moving to renewable energy and developing the materials can be used in improving the overall efficiency of solar cells.
